Afterwards we grilled out with Brice and spent the afternoon hanging out.
I have been reading to Xander about our flag and origins. My dad and I watched some history documentaries about the starting of our country. I am so proud of our founding fathers. I am awed by the obstacles they overcame and glad that I get to benefit from their efforts. As cheesy as it sounds, I am proud to be an American.
Unfortunately, I am a bit down this evening. I LOVE the fireworks, the best part of summer, and am not going this year. I didn't think I could handle Xander alone. I was going to, but the thought of needing to go to the bathroom and taking him into a dark port-a-potty with me really turned me off from it. Also a bit sad at the contrast from last years 4th. Oh well. Next year will be even better!
