Absence

I just wanted to take a quick minute to apologize for not being around.  We have been so busy with guests and holidays that I never got around to posting about last week's tot school.  Also, Xander is due for surgery and we will be house sitting for a couple of weeks after, so I am not likely to return to the blog for a few weeks more.  Wishing everyone the best! - Kaysha

Winter Printables

I have some more vocabulary materials to share with everyone!  I made some Winder Vocabulary 3  part cards, which you are more than welcome to download here.  To go with them, I made a Little Reader Lesson, which you can download for free from here.

G for Giraffe - Week 2

Xander is 25 Months

We are currently working on our Mommy & Me ABC units.  This week was our second week of the letter G and giraffes.  Unless otherwise specified, all of the giraffe printables are from my Mommy & Me ABC Printables, which are free as we complete them.

His white board had some giraffe cut outs, some alphabet magnets, and his fridge phonics set.  His shelf had a fabric G, the G from our floor tiles, a hand puppet, the giraffe from his alphabet zoo, and a few giraffes from his toobs.

 Play Dough
This play dough tray had his letter g dough stamper, a couple g cookie cutters, some giraffe cookie cutters, a play dough mat, and some dough.

Pattern Block Giraffe
This pattern block mat is from PreKinders.  Xander thought it was fun to "build a giraffe."
I used this magnetic box for the pattern blocks and Xander made his own game.  He started matching up the alphabet magnets to the letters around the outside.  Of course, I was more than happy to play along. :)

Giraffe Letter Clipping
He decided it looked like a finger nail clipper, so kept putting them on his fingers also.

Giraffe Numbers
Even though I did all 101 Doman dot cards, we have Little Math, and we practice numbers every few weeks, quantities are just not sinking in for Xander.  This week, I decided to do something a little different.  I used the same number tile cards I have been using, but wrote the number on the back with a wet erase marker.  Then we went through them like flash cards.  He thought it was fun and wanted to do it again.  Hopefully it will help him pick up the concept.

Stamping
We did some stamping with our uppercase and lowercase stamp and washable stamp pads.  We also used a foam giraffe stamp.  I love how proud he looks!

Giraffe Tracing

  Giraffe Alphabet Puzzle
I found this great alphabet puzzle over the summer.  I set all the pieces out for Xander and asked him for each letter.  He would find them for me to put together.

Christmas Words Video

I shot this video this morning.  It is Xander playing one of his favorite games, matching up his 3 part cards.  This was his first time seeing the Christmas cards, so he did a pretty good job.  I had been flashing him the Little Reader lesson with these words for about a week before playing.  You can download the lesson for free here.  (I know the video is pretty long, but I shot it in order to preserve memories, not specifically for the blog).

North American Animals

Last July I made Xander a set of 3 Part Cards to go with his North American Wildlife Toob.  You can download it here, if you'd like.  I have no idea why it took me so long, but I finally made him a Little Reader Lesson to go with it.  He LOVES his Little Reader lesson and learns words so quickly that way, that I might have to make more lessons for all the Toobs we have.  Anyway, if you're interested, you can download the North American Animal Little Reader Lesson here.

G for Giraffe

Xander is 25 Months

We are currently working on our Mommy & Me ABC units.  This week was the first week of the letter G and giraffes.  Unless otherwise specified, all of the giraffe printables are from my Mommy & Me ABC Printables, which are free as we complete them.

His white board had some giraffe cut outs, some alphabet magnets, and his fridge phonics set.  His shelf had a fabric G, the G from our floor tiles, the giraffe from his alphabet zoo, and a few giraffes from his toobs.

Giraffe Bottle Cap Letters
This tray had one of the bottle cap matching sheets and the his bottle caps letters.  He wanted the giraffe hand puppet to give him five every time he got one right.

Giraffe Size Sorting
We have been doing size sorting with five objects/printables for a while.  He has been pretty good at picking the largest or smallest, but not in putting them all in order.  This week something clicked for him, and he was able to do it!  I love breakthroughs like that.  It is why we continue with activities that are still a little outside his ability range.

Sight Word Zoo
This tray had the third sheet from his Sight Word Zoo Printables.  I also added some other animals.  He surprised me by getting them all correct the first time!
Big Button Fun
This tray had the giraffe from his Big Button Fun set.  He is pretty good and pentagon and hexagons, but the hexagons and octagons mix him up.

Coloring Giraffes
 Climbing
Xander was arranging the chair/stool and then launching himself into his crib.  Fortunately, he has yet to attempt climbing out himself.
 Stacking
 Reading
He was trying his Tag Jr out on a bunch of books to see what worked.

Christmas Printables

In preparation for some Christmas Tot School fun, I made some Christmas printables for Xander.  I thought I would share early in case anyone else wanted to use them.

The Christmas Vocabulary Cards are just the normal 3 part cards that we use to reinforce reading words.

The Christmas Play Dough Mats are just mats you can use with either dough stampers or alphabet cookie cutters.

I made a Little Reader Christmas Lesson to go with these vocabulary cards.  You can download it for free here.

F for Flamingo

Xander is 24 Months

We are currently working on our Mommy & Me ABC units.  This week was letter F and flamingos (only one week for this letter because there just isn't as much fun stuff to do with flamingos).  Unless otherwise specified, all of the flamingo printables are from my Mommy & Me ABC Printables, which are free as we complete them.

His white board had some flamingo cut outs, some alphabet magnets, and his fridge phonics set.  His shelf had a fabric F, the F from our floor tiles, am F minibook, his peg letter F, the flamingo from his alphabet zoo, and a few flamingo books.

 Play Dough
This play dough tray had his letter F dough stamper, a couple F cookie cutters, a flamingo cookie cutters, a play dough mat, and some dough.
