Mommy and Me ABC Letter Mazes

Partway through making my Mommy and Me ABC series, I decided Xander would enjoy doing some letter mazes.  I was able to upload the mazes in the files as I made them, but did not get a chance to post them in the earlier letters.  So that you an enjoy them with your little ones, I put them all together in one file!

You can download all of the letter mazes here!  The animals go with the rest of the printables from the Mommy and Me ABC series.

As always, I'd appreciate it if you link back to me when posting about any of my printables!

Christmas

Can't believe Christmas has already come and gone!  What a wonderful couple of weeks!  Here's what we did.

Christmas Books
I don't remember whether or not I shared last year, but I did the Christmas books again this year.  I wrapped 24 Christmas or winter themed books and had him open one a day.  I used old books, but he loved unwrapping them to find out what "new" book he was getting!
 Spooning and Tweezing mini ornaments
 Christmas Sensory Bin
Nothing too exciting.  Just a split pea base with some mini ornaments, mini presents, and random Christmas toys.
Word Family Christmas Ornaments
Working on some word families with the printables I made (free here)
Christmas Math
Doing some Christmas math worksheets (free here)
Mini Christmas Party/Craft
We had some good friends over and had a mini Christmas party.  The kids made foam gingerbread ornaments, ate pizza, and exchanged presents!  So much fun, we'll have to do it again next year!

Our friends know us so well!  Xander received some Imaginets as his gift!  We absolutely love them!  They're educational, of course, but more than that, I love the time we spend together working through each card!  Those are the precious one on one moments I live for!
Popping packaging wrap.  I used the opportunity to talk about how letting the air out slowly makes a quiet sound and letting it out fast makes a loud POP.  We practiced each a few times!
 Christmas Wreath Window Decoration
Xander made a Christmas wreath window decoration.  I cut out two circles from green construction paper and put them onto some contact paper.  Then I gave him some tissue paper to let him decorate the wreath.  I had him use mostly green, but then a few red pieces for berries.
 Great facial expression!
 Candy Cane Reindeer
I bought the supplies to make these little reindeer from candy canes.  Basically I tied on some brown pipe cleaners for antlers and glued on the eyes and noses.  Unfortunately, it was a little too tricky for Xander to help, so he just chatted with me while I made them.  Then delivered them to the hospital for patients or nurses that had to be in the hospital over Christmas.  Xander got a big kick out of visiting the hospital where he was born, and hopefully we brought a smile to someone's face!
 Christmas Tree Puzzle
I printed this Christmas tree number puzzle from 3 Dinosaurs.  It was great practice for Xander working with teen numbers.
 Christmas Eve
 Christmas Morning
Nothing beats having a toddler on Christmas morning!  I really enjoyed watching him open his gifts!  We are so blessed by friends and family!  He got some great learning toys!

More Magna-Tiles and some take apart vehicles from Mommy
Number board and balance board from Grandma!  Doesn't he look so handsome (and a little too grown up) pretending to surf?
Building with the grandparents!  One of my best friends bought him the Squigz.  Those and the Magna-Tiles have ended up being his favorites!  It makes me so happy that he loves to build!
It was a very low-key Christmas, but it was so wonderful!  I hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday season!

H for Habitat

See what we did for other letters in the Alphabet in Simple Science.

H for Habitat
Science Notebook Page (Click the picture to print).
Unlike many of the other Alphabet in Simple Science concepts, we really did not do any experiments for Habitats.  (It is not exactly ethical to experiment with what habitats are good for organisms...).  Mostly we discussed what habitats are and read a bunch of books.  We also watched The Magic School Bus Hops Home, which is their episode on habitats.  Scholastic also has a habitat game you can play for free here.

Brainstorm
While we did not actually do any experiments, I did ask Xander to brainstorm what a water frog would need to live.  This was his list (written by Mommy).  My brother is bringing me a small tank in a week or two, so we're actually going to purchase an aquatic frog and discuss all of these needs when we get him.  Stay tuned!

Christmas Math Printables

I made some Christmas Math worksheets and a game to go along with some of our Christmas themed school activities.  You're welcome to print and use it with your little one!  You can print it from here.

Wreath Decorating Game
For the wreath decorating game I included a page with a big wreath.  My idea is to print and laminate it, then have Xander draw a random number tile (included) and add the corresponding number of "berries".  You could use gems, beads, pom poms, play dough, etc.

Letter H Week

So, so happy we were able to get back into a normal routine this week!  Here is what we did for Letter H!

Letter Formation/Pre-Writing
Tracing the letters with his write and wipe cards.
Practicing writing in his sand box.
Letter H Tracing Pages (From 1+1+1=1)
Foam Block Letter Templates
Making H's out of foam crafting blocks.  You can download the templates here.
Q-Tip Painting (from 1+1+1=1)
Using his HWWT pieces to build some H's.
 Letter Maze
He got some new colors of Do-A-Dot markers for his birthday, so he was very excited to use them.
Play Dough Letters
Xander recently received a new play dough kit as a gift.  He loves it (although I don't like the actual dough from it).  He played with that a lot as well as doing the H page alphabet stamping play dough mats.
Literacy
We did the next four Beginner Spelling Cards.  I made sure to set out all the letter tiles he needed, as well as a few extras for challenge.  We talked a lot about how adding a silent e changed some words (hid to rhde, kit to kite). Then I had him spell ride all on his own.
Cut and Paste Phonics Hunt
He did the letter H of his Cut and Past Phonics Hunt.  He thought he was pretty funny when he pretended to use the glue stick as chap stick!
Games
Playing Boggle Junior... and making a big mess!  Xander also bought the Scrabble Alphabet Scoop game with his own money.  It has been a big hit too!
Phonics Fun and following directions pages from Raising Rockstars Kindergarten.  He was excited to use his new truck crayons!
Art
I printed off the letter H lacing pages from my Mommy and Me ABC pages and let Xander paint using one of his funky brushes.  I LOVE his facial expressions while painting.
Science
We're still doing our Alphabet in Simple Science, and this week was H for Habitat.  Check back to see what we did!
Spanish
Xander asked to watch KidStart Spanish this week.  He also watched the habitat episode of The Magic School Bus in Spanish.
Sensory Play
Magna-Tiles and math on the light box!
Sweeping his water beads?
