This week in our Around the World Homeschool journey we stopped at Russia (we're doing it with Asia, but could have lumped it into Europe).
Books:
Firebird (not really Russian, but we looked at Tchaikovsky and ballet)
Russia : world adventures
Through the Window (came late, should have been with France)
Ella Bella ballerina and The sleeping beauty (again mostly for the ballet tie in)
Activities:
Watching the little videos on Russia with his Learning Globe
Recipe:
This week we tried Russian Syrniki, which is a type of cheese pancake. The whole family enjoyed them.
Art:
We started out by reading The Noisy Paint Box: The Colors and Sounds of Kandinsky's Abstract Art and The Dreaming Giant: A Children's Book Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky, both inspired by the Russian artist Kandinsky. Then we did this art project from Deep Space Sparkle.

The turnip is such a cute book! We did Kandinsky circles years ago using torn paper circles. It was fun!
