Tot School Octagon Activities

Archer was 24 Months
We have been working on Shape Themes in Tot School. You can see the Shape Themes "Curriculum" post here. This week was octagon and we also did a Taffic Sign theme.
This is what Archer's desk area looked like. The posters are from The Learning Effect. The shelf included a couple Non-Fiction Sight Words books, a Meet the Sight Words book, an alphabet book, and a digraph reader. I also included some traffic sign books. His artwork from the week is hanging as well.
This week's play dough included an octagon cookie cutter, some fondant cutters and a school bus cutter.
Coloring some octagons. He used both Do a Dot Markers and regular markers (Free to print here).
We used stickers to fill in his dot art (Free to print here).
Decorating an octagon with vehicle stamps.
Tracing Pentagons. This week he did it all on his own (although not well) (Free to print here).
More tracing work from my Traffic Sign Tot Pack.

Random coloring. For a kid who doesn't much like coloring, I'll take anything I can get!
We tried using the Osmo with Archer a couple of months ago and he just did not understand that what you do on the ground affects the screen. We tried again this week with the Words game and he LOVED it. We had to play a lot! Anything with letters for that guy!
Water table fun.
Playroom shelves include both theme related tot school activities and other toys, usually open ended. The goal is to work on things like fine motor skills, visual spacial skills, math and literacy (and keep him entertained). I have been trying to also include one of our toddler games, to get him more used to playing games with us.

On the top I had his dry erase tracing work and a Trucks Matching game. Shelves on the left had a shape sequencing puzzle, traffic sign vocabulary cards, a traffic sign puzzle, a shape sorting truck and a car ramp. Shelves on the right had garages with keys, rhyming puzzles, sort and match construction trucks, cars and traffic signs, Way To Play roads and a bin of cars with highway shape (from Making Learning Fun).
Stacking the shape sequencing pieces. However he wants to play with it is fine with me.

This was an old traffic sign puzzle from when Xander was little. Archer did it many times during the week.
Sometimes I think he is outgrowing this car ramp, but then he always plays with it when I get it out.
Rhyming puzzles (Target Dollar Spot a few years ago).
Sort and Match Construction Truck Set
Cars and traffic signs and Way To Play roads made such a fun combination!
