Tot School Trapezoid Activities

Archer was 24 Months
We have been working on Shape Themes in Tot School. You can see the Shape Themes "Curriculum" post here. This week was trapezoid and we also did a Musical Instrument theme.
This is what Archer's desk area looked like. The posters are from The Learning Effect. The shelf included a Non-Fiction Sight Words book, a Meet the Sight Words book, an alphabet book, and a blends reader. I also included a book on sound and a Mathstart book. He wasn't much interested in shape themed art, but wanted to color the M from his coloring book instead.
We used dot magnets on his little easel for his dot art page (Free to print here).
Coloring a trapezoid with chalk.
Tracing trapezoids. I switched to dry erase crayons because they are less messy than the markers (Free to print here).
Music note size sorting and two piece puzzles (From the Musical Instrument Tot Pack)
More tracing work. This he decided to do outside. (From the Musical Instrument Tot Pack)
He was really into this xylophone activity this week. He carried the little pieces around a lot. (From the Musical Instrument Tot Pack)
Playroom shelves include both theme related tot school activities and other toys, usually open ended. The goal is to work on things like fine motor skills, visual spacial skills, math and literacy (and keep him entertained). I have been trying to also include one of our toddler games, to get him more used to playing games with us.

The white board had some Magna-Tiles made into trapezoids. It also had his Animal Upon Animal Game and some tracing pages. Shelves on the left had a Saxoflute, a letter tracing board, the Spinagain, and some wooden blocks with pattern cards. Shelves on the right had musical eggs, rhyming puzzles, instrument vocabulary cards and toys, a farm magnet toy, a bowling zoo, a xylophone and cars with highway shape (from Making Learning Fun).

Archer just got Animal Upon Animal for his birthday. He doesn't have the patience to play by the rules yet, but he did like stacking the animals.

Playing his Saxoflue

My little guy is obsessed with letters, so this is currently one of his favorite toys! He carries it around the house and even asks to have it when he's playing outside.

This was the first time I got out the pattern cards with our wooden blocks for Archer. He still tends to want to build ON the card, instead of just replicating it. We're working on it.

Lots of stacking going on, too.
