This was his desk setup. On the left is his magnetic calendar. His white board had some alphabet magnets, and his fridge phonics set. The shelf had a some of Qs and Q books. The flashcards on the wall are form 1+1+1=1.
By far the favorite activity this week was his animal cages. I picked out some Toob animals of which we had two and put each pair in one of the doors of his Animal Hospital. Then I wrote the beginning letter of each animal name on a piece of paper in both uppercase and lowercase. He had "free" the animals and then put them on their corresponding letters.
We did both printable and store bought puzzles.
Letter Maze
For something different, I made up a letter maze for Xander this week. I gave him a Do-A-Dot marker and had him mark all of the Qs to make a path from the baby to the mommy. He loved it and wanted to do it again.
After he was done he traced the path with his finger. We hung this page next to his desk and he would periodically go over and trace the path.

Building Qs
We used our Handwriting Without Tears pieces to build some Qs. He really surprised me in how well he did! I think I showed him each letter once, and then he was able to build them all by himself. I put out his magnetic letters as guides, but it turns out he didn't need them after he had built each letter himself once.
Math and Reading Eggs
It turned out putting the eggs together was too difficult for him (and sometimes me), so I just had him stack the pairs.
To fill the rest of the carton, I used some eggs with word families on them. He was not all that interest in them, though.

Finger Painting
Xander's first experience finger painting that he can remember. He wasn't so sure about actually haven't to stick his fingers in the paint, but he loved swirling it around on the paper. The Q is from 1+1+1=1.

We matched number tiles to the cards with the correct number of quail. I wrote the numbers on the back so we could flip through them like flashcards.

It is hard to find activities for quail, so I improvised a bit with these eggs. I took apart a bunch of old Easter eggs and mixed them up. Then I wrote numbers on the bottoms and put dots on the tops to make a matching game. I put them all into an egg carton (which I forgot to photograph) so that he could have fun putting them in the carton when he was done.

For some writing practice, I wrote some letters on his little dry erase board and then had him use the eraser on the end to erase the letters.
I got out his Thomas Memory Game and he had fun doing that this week. He was SO proud when he would get them right!
We finally got a break in the weather and made a trip to the zoo this week! Xander had a blast!
I dug out a a Thomas Floor Puzzle and Xander LOVED it. He can't do it by himself, but we did it together many times this week. I think I may have to include a floor puzzle in our weekly activities.
I found the stinker reading in bed long after he should have been asleep. It makes me so happy that he loves books so much!
