Munchkin School - C Week

Letter Formation/Pre-Writing
Tracing the letters with his write and wipe cards.
Trying on his own.
Practicing writing in his sand box.
Q-Tip Painting (from 1+1+1=1)
Finding the Cs with his Build a Letter Templates and HWWT pieces. C didn't really take much construction, but he still seemed to enjoy it.
 Letter Maze
The C page from Printing Fun

I recently ordered Xander Learn to Write with Mr. Pencil, to use on his grandpa's iPad.  He loves playing on the iPad, so I was hoping it would be good incentive to practice.  So far he really likes it.  It is definitely more of a challenge than he expected it to be, but I am very happy he is sticking with it.
He has to properly make the correct letter, with guidance, three times before it counts it.
Literacy
Beginner Spelling Cards
We did the next four Beginner Spelling Cards.   it still takes quite a bit of thought!  I made sure to put out extra letter tiles so that he cannot just use process of elimination.
After he had done all the cards, I gave him some tiles and asked him to spell not.  Then I had him use the "silent e" to change it into note.
Cut and Paste Phonics Hunt
I recently came up with this Cut and Past Phonics Hunt.  I cut the pictures into strips and then had him cut them apart.  He really enjoys using glitter glue to glue them onto the big letter.  I just need to remember to cut the letter out before letting him glue!
ABC Find It!
I got this activity from 1+1+1=1.  Instead of having him match the pictures to the corresponding pictures on a mat, I had him match them to the written description for extra reading practice.
I also got out our word tiles and we played around making silly sentences.
Reading in his tent.
Little Reader
I've started making taking note of words we come across while reading that he does not know.  I then make short lists of those words in Little Reader so that I can easily flash them to him.  He enjoys watching the words flash, which takes about 20 seconds.  He usually learns them within 3-5 exposures.
Thinking Skills
Doing a sequencing puzzle and an animal puzzle.
Math
Practicing ordinal numbers on the light table.
Art
Since this week was C for Cook in science, I thought it would be fun to tie it in to our art.  I put some foam sticker Cs on his play dough rolling pin.  Then I gave him a couple of washable stamp pads and let him attack the paper (I used the C outlines from the Mommy and Me ABCs).  I also gave him the Cs from our See and Stamps.
Science
We're still doing our Alphabet in Simple Science, and this week was C for Cook.  To go with the theme, he watched The Magic School Bus: Ready, Set, Dough! Full post will come Friday!
Spanish
We did some Little Reader lessons and he did some 3 Part Cards shapes at daycare.  He also watched The Magic School Bus: Ready, Set, Dough! in Spanish.

Preschool Backpack
Here is what was in this week's Preschool Backpack:

Spanish Shapes 3 Part Cards (we did half last week and half this week)
