Gingerbread Playdough Tray

We've really been into play dough around here lately (mostly making numbers or country maps), but I decided to mix it up with this gingerbread play dough tray.

I started by adding cinnamon, ginger, cloves and allspice to my regular playdough recipe. On the tray I added gingerbread man cookie cutters, buttons, tinsel pipe cleaners and a rolling pin. I found some great fake gumdrops and peppermints from HappyKawaiiSupplies.

Archer was so excited he wouldn't even let me take a picture of the tray before he started playing.

The little "peppermints" are his favorite. While he did initially make some gingerbread men, he moved on from that pretty quickly. He spent a long time putting them in the dough, taking them out and building continents with them...

 

Flower Play Dough Kit

Another cousin birthday, and another play dough kit assembled! This was a cute little flower themed kit.  I love how fun and girly it turned out!

I used a taller Latchmate storage box that had a cute little storage tray. In the top I put a flower toob and a little wooden rainbow. I added some flower buttons in different colors and different sizes and some flower cookie cutters, as well as some homemade purple play dough.

The bottom had a tub of pink homemade play dough, a rolling pin, another flower shaped cookie cutter and a little metal tub with handle. I also threw in some flower vocabulary cards (free here) that included all the flowers from the toob.

Here's hoping that our cousins like it!

Knight and Dragon Play Dough Kit

There are so many wonderful play dough kit ideas out there, but I feel like a lot of them are geared towards girls.  I had a great time making a Fairy Garden Play Dough kit for our cousin, which she loved, so I thought I'd try making a couple for some male cousins.

We had two cousins turning 5 at the same time, so I was able to get some things to split between their kits. 

I used Latchmate storage boxes to store them (although, IKEA boxes are supposed to work great if you are close to one). Each one included part of a Knights Toob set and part of a Dragon Toob set. I used some pearl and gem vase fill, some rocks and then Mini Geometric cookie cutters. Below, I put some teal and some orange homemade play dough.

Fairy Garden Play Dough Kit

The boys have some little girl cousins who are adorable and the epitome of all things pink, unicorn, glittery and frilly!  I love my boys dearly, but sometimes wish for a more girly creative outlet too!  A recent birthday for one of our sweet cousins provided the perfect opportunity!  Here is the Fairy Garden Play Dough Kit I made for her.

I found this Latchmate storage box that had a cute little storage tray and seemed to be a good size for little kids to carry around (plus, it was pink). In the top I put a little watering can, some flowers, a mini teracotta pot and a Fairy Fantasies Toob (this Fairy Super Toob would also be adorable!).

The bottom had some fairy themed cookie cutters I found at the craft store, purple play dough and pink strawberry play dough.

The whole thing closed up in the box and has a handle, although, the watering can needed a little bending. 

I had so much fun making this box, I think I'll have to start making others!  I can't wait for Archer to be old enough for them!
