Books on the Shelf: Native Americans

These were last week's Books on the Shelf.  Actually, the last two weeks.  We forgot to rotate, oops.
Xander had been interested in reading these books we have about Native Americans.  Since he had an interest, I figured it was a perfect time to pull them out.  We also made the sensory bin with edible moon sand to go with it.

Books on the Shelf: Fourth of July

These were last week's Books on the Shelf
To get in the spirit, we did a bunch of books about the Fourth of July, the flag and the Declaration of Independence.

Books on the Shelf: Sharks

Here are last week's Books on the Shelf
Xander chose this week's theme, so we got out a bunch of books about sharks.  I think he read every book, also! We did throw in The Shark Who Was Afraid of Everything, even though it is fiction.  It just seemed to fit.

Books on the Shelf: Evolution

Books on the Shelf: Evolution
This set of books is much more geared towards Xander, Archer is much too young.  However, I LOVE these books.  Yes, I will always be a science teacher, so I am biased, but they are all so BEAUTIFUL.  I wish all of our non-fiction could be illustrated so nicely!

Note: From Lava to Life and Mammals that Morph are part of a series that starts with Born with a Bang, which kind of hints at the start of life.  I did not get that one out, because I lump it more with Earth Science than evolution.

Books on the Shelf: Primates

Here are last week's Books on the Shelf:
They were all about primates.  Since Archer has been into animals, I thought this might be a good theme.  We were also able to visit some at the local zoo. I'm that mom at the zoo that always gets annoyed when parents point to apes and call them gorillas.  I don't say anything, but I always make sure my kiddos know whether we are looking at an ape or a monkey.
