Coffee Filter Dolphin Craft

As part of our second Dolphin Week, we did a fun coffee filter dolphin craft. I started by giving him a bunch of cool colored washable markers and a coffee filter.  (Ok, so I wasn't careful enough and not all my markers were washable...)
I had him color all over it.
Then I filled in a lot of the white spaces in between his doodles.
We sprayed it with a little bit of water...
and squished it all up into a ball.  (See the reason for the washable markers?)
This is what it looked like when we uncurled it.  Then we let it dry.
When it was dry I glued it to some card stock.  Then I printed off some dolphin outlines to glue on top.

D for Dolphin Week 2

Xander is 23 Months

We are currently working on our Mommy & Me ABC units.  This was our second week of the letter D and dolphins.  You can see last week's post here. Unless otherwise specified, all of the dolphin printables are from my Mommy & Me ABC Printables, which are free as we complete them.

His white board had some dolphin cut outs , some alphabet magnets, and his fridge phonics set.  His shelf had a fabric D, the D from our floor tiles, a D minibook, the dolphin from his toob, his peg letter D, and the dolphin from his alphabet zoo.  On the wall I have his two dolphin crafts and some flashcards from 1+1+1=1.
The book bin was overflowing with dolphin books and books about the letter D.

Bottle Cap Letters
This was Xander's go to activity this week.  He did a pretty good job matching the bottle caps letters to the page.  For some reason he kept calling them "numbers" instead of letters, but I was encouraged by how often he wanted to match them.

Dolphin Number Cards
Since we forgot about this tray last week, I left it out this week.  He still hasn't completely grasped the concept of matching numerals to quantity (we started on quantity and are now adding in numerals).  I know he will get it eventually.

Fall Words
This week we used both the Fall Words sets.  It is so funny to see how attached he gets to some of the words.  Squirrel and scarecrow are definitely his favorites.  (You can download them by clicking the pictures below, just please link back to me if you post about them.)
Play Dough
The play dough trays are always a big hit!  It had his  letter D dough stamper, a D cookie cutter, a dolphin cookie cutter, a play dough mat, and some dough.

Puzzles
I didn't get a picture of all of our puzzles, but here are some.  The drum one is from his A to Z Puzzles and the dolphin is from a Discovery Toys set I got on consignment.

Stamping
As always, we did some stamping with our uppercase and lowercase stamp and washable stamp pads.
Then he decided he wanted his fall stampers (Fall LeavesFall Pumpkins).

Tracing
Tracing between the mommy and baby dolphins in his activity center.

"Swimming" with his dolphins

Coffee Filter Dolphin Craft
He had a blast doing this dolphin craft.

Cheesin' for the camera.

Halloween Cards

Generally I don't upload the files I make until I have posted about them.  However, I made some Halloween Cards and thought you might like to use them before I get around to posting.  You can download them HERE.  (If you post using these cards, please link back to my blog!)  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

You can also find my fall 3 cards by clicking the images below (sorry, they are in two parts).

I have uploaded Little Reader lessons with these words that you can find here.

D for Dolphin (Week 1)

Xander is 23 Months

We are currently working on our Mommy & Me ABC units.  This was our first week of the letter D and dolphins.  (Disclaimer, I wrote this post on little sleep and lots of stress, so please forgive any typos/errors).

His white board had some dolphin cut outs (now posted in the printables), some alphabet magnets, and his fridge phonics set.  His shelf had a fabric D, the D from our floor tiles, a D minibook, the dolphin from his toob, his peg letter D, and the dolphin from his alphabet zoo

The book bin was overflowing with dolphin books and books about the letter D.

Lacing
Some bulletin board letters and some printables made into lacing cards. (The strings are from Oriental Trading).  He pretty much only wanted to lace the Ds and ignored the dolphins.

Cutting
Using his training scissors to cut apart the dolphins.

Dolphin Size Sorting

Dolphin Letter Clipping
I found these cute dolphin clothes pins at the dollar store a while back.  Xander loved clipping the Ds with them.  He is so proud of himself when he gets it clipped on!

Shape Seas
This box had some dolphins with colored shapes and then some shape seas.  He only wanted to match two of them this week, the pentagon and the hexagon.  Since those are the only two he struggles with, I was happy to let him stop there.  I am going to have to figure out a more challenging activity to replace this one in the future!

Dolphin Number Cards
We accidentally forgot to do this tray this week!  Oops.  Maybe next week?

Sensory Bin
Spooning Ds and playing hide and seek with the dolphins.

Alphabet Pegs
One day Xander begged me for the scarecrow from last week's fall cards (in the printables).  I gave it to him and he decided to sit with it while he played with the D from A-Z Peg Letters.  He kept waving and saying "hi" to it.

Fall Words Set Two
Last week's fall cards were such a big hit that I made another (you can download it here).  He learned all the words within a couple of days, but still wanted to match the words to the pictures again and again.

One day he asked for the cards from last week and lined all of them up together.

Fishing Puzzle

Dolphin Craft
I printed the outline of a dolphin and he used some Do a Dot markers to color it in.
